Lacrosse is a sport that includes the up and down running of soccer, the physicality of football and hockey, the stickwork of hockey, and set play work of basketball. It is a sport for anyone that is willing to work and make themselves a better athlete.
We are open to anyone. Experience is a plus but it is definitely not needed. We have built our program over the last 3 years with numerous players who had never picked up a stick before. If you play Fall or Winter sports that is not a problem. I encourage all my players to play other sports and stay active in all that Manual has to offer. A majority of time other coaches have no problem with you playing for us because they know we will keep you active and in shape.
The season is in the spring and goes from February to the middle of May. We finalize our roster in the end of January to get the team practicing in February. We run a competative Varsity and JV schedule. However, we do not make cuts and we practice as 1 team so it allows for new players to quickly learn from the more experienced guys and move up in the ranks. In my mind, every Manual lacrosse player is a Varsity member because he does his part to make all others around him better.
During the fall and winter we have optional events during the week and on the weekends at Manual for returning and new players to improve their fitness and skills. We have extra equipment to loan out for students that want to try the game out before they officially join the team. However, more often than not, once a kid starts playing, it is hard to make him stop.
We hold a camp in the summer for HS players looking to improve their skills. If you filled out the form on the home page you will get information about the camp once it is solidified.
